We didn’t have a bet on the game last night but our series bet on the Sharks got a nice boost with a 4-0 San Jose victory over the Blues.
The Sharks got a big goal early and Martin Jones bounced back from giving up a soft goal in Game 1 to earn the shutout. Ken Hitchcock said afterwards that the Blues have played two ‘B’ games and the Sharks are playing their ‘A’ game right now, and we don’t disagree. San Jose could easily be up 2-0 in the series headed home.
The Eastern Conference final returns tonight with the scene shifting to Tampa Bay and the series tied 1-1. Pittsburgh’s got the momentum after an OT victory in Game 2 and we’re hoping the Pens carry that into tonight.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
The Penguins have outshot Tampa 76-41 so far in this series. Crosby and Malkin had been quiet for a few games dating back to the Washington series, but Crosby potted the OT winner Monday and star players often “wake up” offensively after scoring a big goal like that.
The Lightning has done extremely well in the absence of key players like Stamkos and Bishop, but it’s hard to keep compensating for the lack of your stars with extra effort. We’re not saying Tampa can’t win this game, but the -120 odds at Sports Interaction (they’re a bit higher at other books, so it pays to shop around) suggest the Penguins have a 54.55% chance of winning tonight and we think their chances are better than that.
