We’ve been quiet on the NHL betting front lately, not posting a pick since winning with the Sharks on Monday.
With just 1 game a night and the Stanley Cup final about to start, the NHL betting lines are as tight as ever. Betting right now is more about making the games interesting than it is to make money.
Tampa pays +200 to win the game and that looks like a lot of value, but value doesn’t do you much good if the pick doesn’t win. We’re going with the Penguins to win in regulation time tonight instead, but with the disclaimer that we aren’t betting this game at our regular amount. It’s mostly to keep things interesting.
Congrats to the Sharks for winning the West last night, taking down the Blues in six games. That clinched a small profit for us in our 2 series bets in the conference finals, with the Penguins losing the other one by not winning in 6 games or less. It’s really nice to see the Sharks finally break through to the final.
Good luck tonight with whatever you bet, and enjoy the game! Game 7 to go to the Stanley Cup final doesn’t come along every day.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
As we said above, the value here seems to be on Tampa +200 to win the game. However, we’re cheering for the Penguins here and making a small wager on Pittsburgh to win in regulation time. The odds on this game going to OT are +310 at 5Dimes so if the Penguins are going to win, it’s more likely that they’ll do it in the first 60 minutes.
We lost on the Penguins to win in regulation in Game 5, but that loss came on a soft Tampa goal on Fleury to tie the game late in the third period. Matt Murray looked great back in net in Game 6 and hopefully if the Pens have the lead late again tonight, he’ll slam the door.
