So much for the high-scoring Stanley Cup Final that everyone expected.
Oddsmakers bumped up the totals on the first 3 games of the series to 5.5 after nearly every game in the playoffs had an Over/Under of 5.
And the Penguins and Sharks have combined to go Under the total in each of the first 3 games of the series, sandwiching a 2-1 game between a pair of 3-2 results.
Tonight, we’ve seen an adjustment from the oddsmakers as they’ve dropped the total down to 5. That half a goal makes a huge difference, as Games 1 and 3 would have pushed instead of going Under. But you have to lay a bit of a price to take the Over 5, rather than getting plus money on the Over 5.5.
This has been such a tight-checking, defensive-minded and competitive series, with 2 games decided in OT and the other tied late in the third period before Pittsburgh potted the winner.
Both coaches have to be happy with their teams’ defensive play, and we think we’ll see a greater focus on creating more offence tonight. At least we hope so, as these games have been exciting at the end but haven’t exactly been barn burners throughout.
We’re on the Over 5 tonight. Let’s cheer for some goals.
