We sat out yesterday’s game, not totally sure what to expect last night.
It was a weird game. Pittsburgh jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on for a 3-2 win, but the Capitals fired nearly 50 shots at the Penguins and looked like the better team most of the night.
Matt Murray is one hell of a story. If he can hold the Capitals off the scoreboard for the first period of Game 4 (Washington is a slight underdog in that game, even after the Letang suspension), we can see him getting in the Capitals’ heads – if he’s not already.
That said, we like Washington to even the series tomorrow night. But we’re already on the Capitals for the series at short odds, so maybe we’re biased.
After just 1 game last night, it’s great to have 3 to watch tonight. The Lightning/Islanders and Stars/Blues series resume with tonight’s winners taking 2-1 leads, while San Jose can take a 3-0 lead on Nashville with a victory tonight.
We were tempted by the +125 price on the Stars, but think St. Louis comes out with a strong effort tonight after being outshot in Game 2 but still pulling out an OT win. We can’t lay -135 on the Blues, though, in a game that could easily go to overtime again.
Tampa/New York is also a tough one to call, so we’ll lay off and cheer for the Islanders for our series bet. We’re going with just 1 pick again tonight, in the Sharks/Predators game. Good luck with your bets.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
Obviously, Nashville’s desperate here. We expect that to translate into some improved offence from the Predators. However, San Jose’s on quite a roll and playing with plenty of confidence. We see a competitive game tonight with both teams getting to 2 goals, which would guarantee us no worse than a push here.
