Stanley Cup Betting Tips For Thursday, April 28

Jon and DerekWe won our only bet last night, cashing the Islanders +140 in Game 1 against Tampa Bay.

The Lightning started out fast, grabbing an early 1-0 lead and threatening to add on. But New York weathered the storm, then scored 4 straight goals to take control of the game before Tampa rallied late to make the final score 5-3.

The only game today is Game 1 of Penguins and Capitals. Washington is a small favourite and the total is 5, juiced slightly to the Over. We don’t see value in either the moneyline or total, so we’re passing on the game – but we will definitely be watching.

Congrats to the Predators for surprising us all with their first-round win over the Ducks. Nashville is a pretty big underdog again in Round 2, this time to the Sharks. We’ve added our pick (sort of) for that series to our Round 2 Stanley Cup Playoff betting picks.

Even with the Ducks’ loss, we went 6-2 in the first round for +3.7 units. We’re also up +2.5 units on our game bets, even though our record is just 8-6, because we’ve hit a few underdogs.

The 2016 Stanley Cup betting odds are also updated, if you want to check them out. Washington and Pittsburgh are essentially co-favourites, even though they’re facing each other this round. And the Islanders and Predators both opened the playoffs as +2500 but are already down to +1000!

That’s all for today. Enjoy the game, and we’ll be back tomorrow to break down Blues/Stars and Sharks/Preds.

Good luck!
