Stanley Cup Betting Tips For Thursday, April 14

Jon and DerekWe got off to a strong start to the Stanley Cup playoffs last night as the Penguins beat the Rangers 5-2 to go Over the total of 5.

Things didn’t look too good for the Over when Pittsburgh led 1-0 late in the second, but Crosby put the Pens up 2-0 before the end of the period. The game opened up in the third as the teams combined for 5 goals.

We had expected to see Fleury in net for the Penguins and actually weren’t happy to see Zatkoff in net instead, since we thought Pittsburgh might play more conservatively in front of their third-string goalie. Fortunately, it didn’t matter.

Home teams went 3-0 last night, though two of the games were 1-goal decisions. We don’t see home teams going unbeaten tonight, however. At least we hope not, as we’ve got 2 road dogs tonight.

Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.

Sharks Logo VS Pick Kings Logo
Game: Sharks @ Kings
Time: 10:30PM ET
Pick: Sharks +125 (Pinnacle)

Opening on the road should suit the Sharks just fine, since San Jose led the league in road wins this year with 28. That includes winning both of their visits to LA.

There’s a natural expectation for the Kings to crank things up now that it’s playoff time because, well, they’re the Kings. Yet, LA is a team that went 4-6 down the stretch, while the Sharks were 5-2 in their last 7 to end the season. We see this game as more of a coin flip, so +125 odds are worth the gamble here.
