Nine games on the NHL docket tonight, highlighted by the Battle of Pennsylvania between the Flyers and Penguins and what we hope will be an offensive showcase between the Leafs and Capitals (more on that in a bit.)
A great opening month continued Saturday with a 3-1 evening, spoiled only by the Blue Jackets blowing a 2-goal lead in the third period and losing in regulation time to the Flyers. (One of our winners came on an OT goal by the Predators, so we’ll call it even in the bad-breaks department on Saturday.) After taking it easy in the opening couple of weeks until we had some data to work with, it’s been a 12-3 run for +8.6 units and an overall 15-6, +8.9 start to the season.
If you’ve been tailing along, first thing: congrats. Second thing: remember that no hot streak lasts forever, so make sure you don’t get carried away with your bet sizes. Just like it’s never a good idea to chase your losses, you don’t want to lose a big bet at the end of a hot run and piss away your profits.
One more thing for today — you’ll probably notice some changes on the website today as we finally roll out a Site Supporters format that we first mentioned was coming last season. We’ll still be offering lots of value for free — including any betting opinions we have on the games — but we’re also going to be giving extra value to anyone who supports our site by joining one of our partner sites or making a small financial contribution. Daily fantasy hockey advice is one thing we’re really excited about adding, and we’ll be looking to make this site even better in the future if we get enough support to justify the time investment.
Alright, let’s get to the games. We’ve got 3 bets tonight, five opinions that didn’t quite make our personal card, and the usual stats, info, trends & analysis for all the games on the slate. Good luck on whatever you play, and thanks for visiting NHL Tips!
