It’s an 11-game board tonight in the National Hockey League and with a number of games pitting teams fighting for playoff positioning against teams that are already out of contention, there are a lot of juiced-up numbers out there.
The Penguins, Flyers and Blue Jackets are all laying -140 or higher on the road tonight, while the Hurricanes, Lightning, Jets, Golden Knights and Sharks are all home chalk of at least -150. In fact, Vegas is nearly -300 to beat the visiting Canucks, a team many at the start of the season were expecting the Knights to be fighting with for last place in the West.
Properly weighting desperation and motivation into the betting line has always been something we personally find tricky at this time of year, which probably explains why March has been a bit of a struggle so far. After going 2-2 on Saturday, we suffered through an 0-3 night yesterday to fall to 16-18 for -3.6 units on the month.
