We enjoyed our best night of the young season yesterday, going 4-1 for +2.6 units.
The best part was that the wins were all pretty comfortable (Leafs/Hawks went Over early in the 3rd period, Lightning and Flyers won by 3, Blues won by 2).
Just 4 games today, including an outdoor game this afternoon between the Oilers and Jets. We find those outdoor games are often pretty unpredictable, so we passed on that one.
Going with 1 bet in evening action tonight. Note that we didn’t make it a Best Bet – we still like the bet, but we wouldn’t typically make it our favourite on a night we had 3 other bets as well.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
This sets up for a pretty good situational play on the Ducks, who play their home opener after a 1-3-1 road trip to start the year. Anaheim had an awful start last year as well and had to dig itself out of the hole the rest of the season, so there should be a sense of urgency to get things going on home ice. We also like that the Ducks earned their first win of the year in their most recent game (Thursday), so the pressure should be off a bit and they can enter this game with a bit more confidence.
Vancouver is playing the second night of a tough back to back, after an OT loss in LA last night. The Canucks tied that game with 34 seconds left in regulation time and it seems like they rally for a late goal every night. That obviously can’t continue and we can’t forget the Canucks were projected to be among the worst teams in the NHL this year. Against a motivated Anaheim team, Vancouver shouldn’t really stack up, especially in their 6th game in 9 days.
Instead of laying -180 or higher with the Ducks, we’ll lay -1 on the puck line and ask them to win by 2 or more (a 1-goal win would be a push).
