We’re back to the grind today after taking a weekend off for the first time this season to recharge the mental batteries.
After treading water to the tune of a 9-9 record for -0.5 units through the first 8 days of March, we’re hoping to finish the season strong, beginning with tonight’s 8-game board.
The game of the night comes in Washington, where the Capitals host the surging Jets. Normally we’d be hesitant to back an east coast team that has just returned from a west coast trip, but Washington’s track record in spots like this has actually been pretty good over the last few years.
Meanwhile, Winnipeg isn’t in an ideal situation of its own, playing its fifth consecutive road game. The rigours of playing on the road tend to show themselves more towards the end of a long trip, and we like Washington to build on the bit of momentum it gained with Saturday’s 2-0 win in San Jose, a place where the Capitals hadn’t won in regulation time since 1993.
We’re also on the Under in Vegas/Philadelphia and really wanted to play the Team Total Under on the Canadiens and Red Wings but found the price just a bit too steep on both.
