1-1 night yesterday for us, winning our Best Bet on the Bruins but losing with the Habs in Columbus.
After posting 2 picks yesterday and just 1 on Sunday, we wanted to come back with at least 3 tips today. But we don’t love the board tonight and we don’t want to force anything, so we’re going to go with 2 tonight.
One significant advantage (one of the few) we have over the oddsmakers is that the oddsmakers have to post odds on all games, but we can pick and choose which ones we want to bet.
We tend to get a little conservative around this time of year when players might be looking forward to a few days off during the all-star break and not completely focused on playing. A lot of teams are playing their final game before the break tonight.
There is a chance we might add another pick later today, depending on odds movement, goaltending status and other things. If we do, we’ll put up an alert on Twitter so if you’re not following us there already, you might want to check in at @NHLTips_ca.
Good luck tonight.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
We’ve been riding the Boston train lately, getting a push and a win out of the Bruins the past 3 days, but we’re jumping off tonight. They’ve blown 2-goal leads each of the last 2 games, and we don’t like the way they’re playing defensively.
We do, however, love the way Anaheim is playing right now. Ducks are 9-3-1 in their last 13 games and Perry is red hot with 9 goals in his last 14. We’re not as worried about the lookahead factor with the Ducks since they know they can’t afford any letdowns after that horrible start to the season. They seem really determined to get back into the playoff picture and we think they’ll take another step towards that tonight.

Florida came back to earth after that recent long winning streak, losing 4 in a row. But we believe the Panthers have regained their stride, winning their last 2 games by a combined 9-2 score – against both Cup finalists from last year, the Blackhawks and Lightning. They’re 9-1 in their last 10 at home, and they are 19-7 in their last 26 home games against teams with losing road records.
The Leafs raised a few eyebrows earlier this month when they earned points in 10 of 12 games, but they’ve won just 1 of their last 8. They typically struggle against Luongo as well, losing 13 of their past 14 while averaging 2.02 goals per game against him. We considered -1.5 on the puck line here but Reimer’s playing really well right now and we expect a pretty low-scoring game tonight, so we’ll simply ask for Florida to win this one in the first 60 minutes instead.
