NHL Betting Tips For Thursday, November 7

Jon and Derek

There are some great matchups on the 11-game NHL slate tonight. Pittsburgh gets its first crack at the Islanders since New York swept the Pens of the first round of last year’s playoffs; Vegas/Toronto should be a great game to watch; and the red-hot Capitals visit Florida where the Panthers have been filling the net plenty themselves.

A heads up on that Washington/Florida game: both teams could be affected by a lengthy layoff. Washington hasn’t played in three days, while the Cats are seeing action for the first time since Saturday — and just the second time in eight days. Typically, backing teams on 3+ days rest is not a profitable strategy at all, and it’ll be interesting to see how the Caps and Panthers respond this evening.

We turned a small profit Tuesday despite a 2-2 split, thanks to a +129 winner on the Coyotes First Period Moneyline. Arizona eventually blew a late 3-1 lead and lost in OT, so it felt good to pick the right way to back the Coyotes on the second night of a back-to-back. A surprising loser came in Anaheim, where the Wild rallied from a 2-0 second-period deficit to beat the Ducks 4-2 and spoil our Minny TT Under 2.5. With how badly things have gone on the road for the Wild this year, it was impressive to see Minnesota dig deep and pull out the comeback victory.

Alright, let’s get into the Thursday board. We’ve got breakdowns of all the games below, including opinions on all but one of them. Site Supporters can also see our personal five-game card, listed in order of confidence.

Good luck on whatever you play!
