NHL Betting Tips For Thursday, March 31

Jon and DerekWe took the night off yesterday, but wish we hadn’t. Both leans we posted on Twitter won, as the Flyers defeated the Capitals and the Ducks blew out the Flames.

We’re back tonight looking to build off the momentum of Tuesday’s 2-0 for +3 units. It was much needed as we look to finish the season strong. Even with a very disappointing March, we’re still up money for the year, but it’d be nice to be up a little more by the time the season ends in a couple of weeks.

We have 3 picks tonight, although there were a lot of other games we were close to betting as well. For the record, we lean heavily towards the Rangers, the Penguins, and the Blue Jackets/Islanders Under 5.5.

Good luck with whatever you bet tonight.

Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.

Game: Coyotes @ Stars
Time: 8:30PM ET
Pick: Over 5.5 -108 (BetOnline)

The Stars are scoring goals again, averaging nearly 4 goals over their last 6 games. The 1 game during that stretch they were held under 3 goals, they had 38 shots.

Arizona’s offence has also heated up a bit lately, collecting 11 goals in its last 4 outings. That’s important because when the total is 5.5, you probably need both teams to contribute goals in order to cash an Over. We expect the Coyotes to get a couple of goals tonight, especially against a less than stellar Dallas defence.

In the two meetings between the teams this season, there have been shot totals of 68 and 81. A 5.5 total normally scares us away from the Over, but the Stars are 43-32 Over/Under when the total is 5.5.

Game: Senators @ Wild
Time: 8:00PM ET
Pick: Over 5 -120 (BetOnline)

Minnesota’s offence is clicking lately, scoring 32 goals in the last 9 games – and 14 in its last 3. Only 4 of those 14 goals came with the man advantage, so the Wild isn’t just relying on a hot power play.

Before a 2-1 win over an offensively-challenged Winnipeg Jets team last night, Ottawa had allowed 16 goals in its previous 4 road games. There’s been an average of 6.16 goals scored in Senators road games this year. And the Senators’ starting netminder tonight is Craig Anderson, whose GAA over the last 9 games is nearly 3. Over is the only way we can look in this matchup.
