We dropped our only bet last night as the Red Wings fell to the Blackhawks 5-2. We got Detroit at +105 odds and the Wings actually were favoured at a couple of sportsbooks by game time, but that value didn’t end up paying off.
We go from 3 games yesterday to a 12-game slate tonight.
It’s that time of year where some teams are throwing in the towel, whether it’s from an effort standpoint or a management standpoint (like the Leafs calling everybody up), and some teams are extremely motivated by the playoff race.
We’re seeing some crazy lines, especially on road teams (the Wild is -240 at Bet365 to bet the Leafs in Toronto). The payoff on home dogs like the Senators, Coyotes and Canucks is tempting, but we don’t want to get in front of the Lightning, Ducks and Sharks right now either.
Still, we’ve got 4 picks for tonight’s action. Good luck with whatever you play – and don’t be afraid to chime in with what you think about the games tonight.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
Philly is making a playoff push, just 3 points back of the Penguins for 8th in the East. We won with the Flyers Tuesday against Calgary, and we’ll go back to them tonight to beat an Oilers team that has won just 8 of 25 road games this year.
Nashville’s rolling and is a huge favourite in this one, but that opens up some value on the Devils on the puck line. This game should be low scoring (4.5 total suggests that) so it seems unlikely that Nashville blows the doors off the Devils tonight. New Jersey is 36-13 against the spread when catching +1.5 goals. Plug your nose on this one, but we can’t pass up the value on the road dog.
New York has won 5 of 6 and allowed just 4 goals in its last 3 games. They should be energized by management’s decision to acquire help at the deadline (Eric Staal) and look like a team that can make some noise in the playoffs. The Penguins have struggled to build much momentum this year and are 0-4 in their last 4 meetings with the defensive-minded Rangers. In what looks like a pretty even matchup, we’ll take the +125 on New York.

All signs point to the Ducks’ 10th straight win, but we were a bit concerned about a possible letdown for Anaheim here. Instead, we’ll hope for a free-flowing game between these two teams who have gone over the total in all 3 of their previous meetings this season. Anaheim has gone Under just 1 time in its last 11 road games, and the Coyotes have allowed nearly 4 goals a game over their last 7. As long as Arizona can bag a couple tonight, we like the chances of 6 or more goals in this one.
