We went 1-0 yesterday as the Oilers whipped the Canucks 6-2 in the final game at Rexall Place.
It was a fantastic motivational spot for Edmonton, not only because of the last game in the arena but also because the Oilers had their asses chewed out publicly by their coach Saturday night. We fully expected Edmonton players to show up with a great effort, but it was nice to see that effort get rewarded with a victory.
Motivation and pressure are the biggest things to handicap right now as the end of the regular season approaches. There’s no question the Flyers have everything to play for right now but how can you lay -280 on them at home tonight, even against the Leafs? Toronto’s played a lot of teams tough this season and we could see them making things difficult for Philly tonight too, maybe worth a look on the +1.5 puck line.
We have 4 picks for tonight’s action as we look to build on a 4-1 run over the last 2 days.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
You could argue this game’s more important to the Bruins, since Detroit is already close to clinching a playoff spot. But that doesn’t necessarily mean Boston will win. The Bruins had plenty of urgency to win Tuesday against Carolina, and lost in a shootout. This team is slumping right now, and no doubt feeling the pressure, while the Wings are surging at the right time. Based on current form, getting +135 on Detroit is a steal.

Like we said earlier this week, Colorado looks like they’ve checked out on the season. The Avs were eliminated from playoff contention Tuesday in Nashville but they were dead in the water long before that. We’re not convinced they can put up much of a fight against a high-scoring, rested Dallas team tonight. We recently won a big -1.5 puck line bet on the Stars, noting how well they’ve played after having a few days off, and we’ll ask for Dallas to deliver another comfortable win tonight.
There’s just no reason to get in front of the Penguins right now. Washington may want to win this game to deliver a message before the playoffs, but that’s really about all the Capitals can gain here. Pittsburgh’s feeling great after coming back from a 3-0 hole the other night in Ottawa, and we’ll ride the Penguins again here.
It’s not often we’ll bet a Blues game over the total, but there’s really no other way for us to look in this game. Both teams are hot right now so we should be able to expect a competitive game, and getting goals from both teams is key to an Over bet. The Blues have scored 5 goals in each of their last 3, and the Blackhawks are playing more offensive hockey lately without Keith on the back end and Crawford in net.
