We went 0-2 with 2 pushes last night as a frustrating month continued.
There’s no sugar-coating it – March has been rough. Not just for us, either. We see other hockey handicappers we respect having a tough time lately. Games seem to be lower-scoring again (there were 8 games yesterday when the losing team got 1 goal or less) and that leaves a narrow margin between winning and losing.
We’re going to simplify things with one rock-solid pick today that we absolutely love. Good luck with your bets tonight.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
This game just seems to be the perfect storm for a comfortable Blackhawks victory.
Chicago had been slumping until last time out, when they blanked the Jets 4-0 in Winnipeg. We love to take elite teams after they’ve just ended a losing streak, since they usually respond with a few victories in a row after that.
Minnesota’s not exactly playing great at the moment. The Wild needed a shootout yesterday to avoid their 5th loss in 6 games. Yes, Minnesota’s desperate for points because it’s in a tight playoff race, but that only increases the pressure on the Wild players right now.
Chicago’s playing with some desperation of its own, slipping to third in the Central during its recent funk. It’s not the same pressure as fighting for your playoff lives, but 2 points is as important to the Blackhawks as it is to the Wild.
The biggest factor pointing to a Chicago win tonight, however, is good ol’ revenge. The Wild humiliated the Blackhawks the last time these two teams met, whipping Chicago 6-1 outdoors in a Stadium Series game Feb. 21 on national TV. Minnesota’s also won all 3 meetings between the teams this year. We fully expect the Blackhawks to say ‘enough is enough’ tonight.
We took the -1 puck line at nearly even odds to be a bit more conservative during this tough stretch we’re having, but we would ordinarily suggest taking the -1.5 for a shot at a bigger payout (+172 at Pinnacle Sports). And with the Blackhawks motivated to run up the score if possible, we wouldn’t argue with Chicago -2 +260 or Chicago -2.5 +300, which are both bets you can make at Sports Interaction.
Finally, we feel really strongly about this game, but we’re not suggesting this is a guarantee or a lock. We’ll still risk our regular 1 unit on this bet, and we always recommend you do the same. Managing your bankroll like that is how you can survive cold streaks like this month and still be up 8 units on the year.
