We sat out yesterday’s 1-game slate after going 2-2 for a small profit Thursday night, including hitting the Stars puckline at +140 return.
It’s the final weekend of the regular season, when things really get crazy. Boston and Detroit are playing must-win afternoon games, which are already underway. The Penguins just announced they are sitting Crosby and Letang against the desperate Flyers, and Philadelphia went from -135 favourites to -170 in a matter of minutes.
Some teams are playing for better seeding in the playoffs, while others (ie. Colorado) can’t seem to wait for the season to end. Just be cautious, because just because a team needs to win doesn’t mean it will.
We’ve got 3 picks for today’s action. Gotta keep things brief because there’s plenty of family stuff to do on the weekend. Good luck on whatever you bet.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
This sets up well as a revenge spot for Vancouver, which got routed in Edmonton earlier this week. That was the Oilers’ final game at Rexall Place, and we were on Edmonton at -150 odds in that one. But it will be hard for the Oilers to match that intensity again tonight, and we think Vancouver shows up.
We faded the Avalanche the other night in Dallas, noting Colorado just seemed not to care anymore. Dallas built an early 3-0 lead and had a shot advantage of something like 25-6 by the middle of the second period. So we’ll take another shot at Colorado getting blown out, this time by a Ducks team that is very capable of doing it and has some hopes of improving its playoff positioning.
We’ve been riding Dallas lately and the Stars have been good to us. We think there’s potential for Dallas to win this game by a few goals, but we’ll lessen our risk by taking them on the -1 puck line so we don’t lose our bet if the Stars win by 1 goal, including OT or a shootout.
