Hey guys, we were 1-0 yesterday and also added a small ‘action’ winner on the Canucks Over 5 that we tweeted out last night.
Our win came on the Flames/Ducks Over 5.5. It took a Bieksa goal late in the third period to cash our ticket (the Flames added another goal in the final minute to make the score 5-2), but it should have gone Over long before then as the teams combined to hit something like 6 posts/crossbars.
That win made us 17-4 on our last 21 NHL totals. A lot of those have been Overs, as we’ve noticed a serious increase in scoring in the NHL since the all-star break. Saw an interesting video this morning that suggested the NHL is trying to increase scoring so refs are calling more penalties, which is leading to more power-play goals. Something to keep in mind.
It’s a light night today with just 4 games, and we have just 1 betting tip for tonight. Expect more picks tomorrow with a full schedule.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
Taking the Sharks on the road has been a money-making strategy for us of late. We laid off them the other night in Carolina in what appeared to be a letdown spot, and sure enough, the Sharks lost. But we’ll get back on them here now that they’ve had two days off to focus for a showdown with a conference rival, eager to bounce back from a loss.
The Blues are playing their first game without Alex Steen, which might make the rest of the St. Louis players “step up”, but it’s still a pretty big absence from their lineup. The Blues are usually a heavier favourite than this when playing on home ice, and that suggests the oddsmakers are thinking the same we are. We like it when that happens.
