We went 1-2 last night, winning our Best Bet on the Islanders but dropping our bet on the Blackhawks and our -1.5 +165 longshot on the Stars.
The last few nights in the NHL have made us scratch our heads a bit. It makes you think the trade deadline is on a lot of these guys’ minds.
Montreal won in Washington Wednesday, and we’re not sure how Winnipeg was emotionally ready to take on the Stars last night after Ladd was traded right before gametime.
Big-time respect to the Jets for jumping out to a 3-0 lead and then answering again after the Stars tied it 3-3 in the third period. Dallas might have let up a bit at the start of the game, thinking it was going to be easy. It never is in the NHL.
There are 5 games tonight, 3 of which have favourites of -200 or higher. We’re passing on moneyline bets tonight, but have one Over/Under play for tonight.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
The Wild is 9-0-3 over the total in its last 12 games and would be 10-0-2 Over/Under if it weren’t for that ridiculous save by Neuvirth at the buzzer last night. Here it is if you haven’t seen it:
We expect Minnesota to be competitive again tonight and supply at least a couple of goals towards this total. Washington’s defensive game has been slipping a bit lately (2.87 GAA in their last 15 games) and it’s probably complacency setting in a bit since the Caps are so far ahead of everyone else.
It’s a back to back for Minny, so we’ll either see Dubnyk (3.12 GAA last 9) or backup Darcy Kuemper in net here. Holtby is starting for Washington, but he’s slumping a bit too (3.28 GAA in the last 6).
This total opened at 5.5 and has dropped to what looks like a very reachable 5 tonight in Washington.
