NHL Betting Tips For Tuesday, December 15

jon_derek (1)We went a frustrating 1-2 last night with our NHL tips.

The Oilers won for us in Boston, beating the Bruins 3-2 in overtime. We loved how Edmonton was playing with so much confidence lately, opening a road trip on a 5-game winning streak. In hindsight, we wish we’d taken the Oil at a big underdog price instead of just to cover the +0.5 in regulation time, but we were worried about their struggles in Boston – and they did blow a 2-0 lead.

We lost on the Penguins (they had 45 shots!) to beat the Capitals in Mike Sullivan’s debut behind the bench, and our Red Wings to win in regulation pick looked good until Buffalo scored twice in the final five minutes of the third to win 2-1.

With 11 games on the NHL betting board tonight, we’ve picked out 4 for our NHL tips.

Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.

VS Pick
Game: Avalanche @ Blackhawks
Time: 8:35PM ET
Pick: Avalanche +0.5 (regulation time) +109 (Pinnacle)

Ever since getting off to a shitty start, the Avs have been playing some pretty good hockey and going under the radar. They’ve won 5 of their last 7, including road wins at the Rangers, Predators and Blues. Chicago is relying too much on Patrick Kane’s hot streak and they’re not the invincible team everyone thinks they are. Varlamov has won 7 straight starts against the Blackhawks and Crawford is 2-6-2 in his last 10 against Colorado. The Avs should at least be able to get this one into OT, if not win it themselves.

VS Pick
Game: Devils @ Sabres
Time: 7:00PM ET
Pick: Under 5 -115 (Bodog)

We don’t want to watch this game, but it doesn’t mean we can’t try to make money on it. The Devils have scored 5 goals in their last 3 games, and the Sabres have won their past 2 games by 2-1 scores. We expect another snoozer in Buffalo tonight.

VS Pick
Game: Sharks @ Canadiens
Time: 7:30PM ET
Pick: Canadiens -135 (Bet365)
San Jose’s lost 7 in a row, so you know they aren’t playing with a lot of confidence right now. They juggled their lines Saturday but were still shut out in Minnesota, and frustration’s at a season high. The Habs snapped out of a funk by dominating the Senators Saturday night, firing 27 shots in the first period ALONE. If Price were playing, the Canadiens would be much bigger favourites. Since the Sharks are struggling, we’re not worried about their chances of lighting up Tokarski.
