We’re back tonight after nearly a week off since a 2-0 Tuesday. The holidays are such a tough time to find time to watch games, let alone research bets and share them with everyone, so we decided to take some time off.
That’s actually not a bad idea now and then, especially if you’re struggling with your betting. It allows you to clear your head and then get back to handicapping/betting games without feeling pressure to make every pick a winner or to catch up for your losses.
Anyway, like we said, we’re back with 3 NHL tips for tonight’s action. Happy New Year, thanks for following us, and good luck with your bets.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
Coyotes are a pleasant surprise this season but it’s not because of their play on the road. Arizona’s just 2-8-1 away from home in the past couple of months. Vancouver finally seems to be clicking at home, winning 4 of its last 5 at Rogers Arena, and we like the way Markstrom is playing goal with Miller out of the lineup. -145 is about as high of juice as we like for our NHL tips, but we think it’s underpriced for this matchup.

When a line doesn’t make sense to you, like this 5.5 total, it usually means you’re missing something. We’ve looked at this game from a few different angles and can’t figure out why the oddsmakers made it 5.5 instead of 5, so we’re going to go with the Under here and hope we don’t get burned. Senators haven’t scored in 2 games, and the Blues have scored just 2 PP goals in their last 2 games, both losses. St. Louis usually tightens up defensively when it’s in a bit of a losing skid, and we expect them to bounce back tonight too, but they’re an almost 2:1 favourite here, so we’ll go with the Under 5.5 instead.

Jersey is playing some of its best hockey of the year, winning 3 straight games including an upset of Dallas last time out. They should carry that momentum into tonight’s home date with the Wings, who the Devils have already beat twice this season. It sucks that Cammalleri is out for the Devils, but they picked up their game Saturday without him and hopefully they’ll do it again here tonight. At nearly even odds, the home team seems to be the only way to go here.
