The Sharks are in must-win mode tonight at home in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, and everyone knows it.
We thought about going the other way and playing the bit of value on the Penguins, but we do think the Sharks will win tonight. So we’re going to make things a little riskier by playing the -1.5 on the puck line, with hopes of cashing in big.
It’s not a bet for the weak of hearts, but we think the risk vs reward is worth it.

San Jose’s in a 0-2 hole here but has hardly been outclassed, losing Game 1 on a goal with a few minutes left in regulation, then dropping Game 2 in OT. And the Sharks haven’t even played that well in the series, in our opinion.
The Sharks aren’t talking as if they think this series is over, and we agree with the adage that a series doesn’t really start until the road team wins a game. If Pittsburgh hadn’t swept its two home games, people would be saying how they’re in trouble. It’s over-reaction either way, and we believe the Sharks aren’t out of this yet.
San Jose has dominated opponents at home recently, with 5 of their last 7 victories on home ice coming by 2 goals or more. We aren’t expecting them to blow out the Penguins tonight but we think that if the Sharks win, there’s a good chance it’s by a couple of goals, even if we need an empty netter to do it. By playing -1.5, we get +240 odds instead of having to lay -140 on the moneyline, so we’re giving it a shot.
