NHL Betting Tips For Tuesday, December 5

Jon and DerekThere are 10 games in the National Hockey League tonight, including some terrific matchups like Islanders/Lightning, Rangers/Penguins and Predators/Stars.

We got a bit of a lucky push on our Flyers first period moneyline underdog bet last night as Philadelphia scored late in the first to tie the score. The Flyers went on to snap their 10-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Flames, but we just picked the wrong way to try to capitalize on what we thought looked like a pretty good situational spot to back Philly.

Saturday, the nice run we were on cooled off a bit with a 1-3 night. It could have easily been a 3-1 evening as the Canucks scored twice in the first 11 minutes, then didn’t score again to fall a goal short of their Team Total Over, and the Capitals allowed a late goal to Columbus to ruin our Blue Jackets team total Under. However, we needed Nashville to win in the shootout to avoid an 0-4 night, just going to show the fine line between winning and losing on most hockey bets.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Red Wings respond tonight at home, 3 days after getting humiliated 10-1 in Montreal on Hockey Night in Canada. Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg came out with some pretty strong words after that loss, talking about how his team “basically embarrassed everyone that played with the winged wheel”. We expect Detroit to answer the bell tonight, but they’re in tough against the visiting Jets.

We’ve got a bet on that game as well as the Islanders/Lightning matchup. Check them out below, as well as breakdowns and opinions on the other games tonight. Good luck!

Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
