NHL Betting Tips For Thursday, February 1

Jon and DerekIt’s been a tough start to the second half as we’ve gone 0-2 since the all-star break, including a shootout loss with the Sharks last night in Detroit.

However, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise. A big part of our handicapping is situational analysis (fatigue/rest, home/road, performance in last several games, etc.) and whenever the league shuts down for a few days like the all-star break, it’s pretty disruptive. Hopefully once every team has a game or two under their belt following the break, we’ll be able to spot some tendencies once again.

Besides, it’s not all bad. Even with an 0-2-1 run over the past week, we closed January with a record of 22-19 for +2.4 units, turning a profit for the fourth time in as many months. On the year, the record stands at 95-78 for +13.8 units, with no multi-unit plays.

Alright, on to tonight where a 12-game Thursday slate awaits. The Coyotes, Oilers and Rangers are all playing their first game since the all-star break, and it’ll be interesting to see if they’re at an early disadvantage against teams that have already played a game this week. We expect they will be, which is part of the reason we’ve got bets against two of those teams tonight.

Our other bet tonight is on the Flyers/Devils tilt in New Jersey, which you can also read about below, along with breakdowns of the other games tonight. Good luck with your wagers!

Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
