NHL Betting Tips For Saturday, January 6

Jon and DerekThere are 9 games today in the National Hockey League, beginning with afternoon contests between the Blues and Flyers in Philadelphia and the Oilers and Stars in Dallas.

After going 2-0 in Thursday’s action with comfortable winners on the Devils/Stars Over 5.5 and the Jackets/Avs First Period Under 1.5, we sat out yesterday’s 5-game card. That was a mistake as we should have been on the Jets Team Total Over 3.5 (they’ve now scored 4 goals or more in 15 of their last 17 home games) and the Vegas/Chicago Over 5.5, the two games we liked the most. We also leaned Red Wings First Period and Sharks/Senators Under 5.5, 2 picks that would have split.

There’s a fine line between being selective and being too conservative, and we’ve been a bit too selective at times this year. Part of that is trying to limit the volatility when you know that other people are betting your picks, but we’ll try to get a bit more aggressive over the next few weeks.

That begins with today, when we’ve got action in 4 of the 9 games on the board. Good luck if you’re following along, or on whatever else you’re betting today.

Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
