We lost our only bet last night as the Flames couldn’t take advantage of a fatigued Blue Jackets squad, losing 2-1 at home.
That loss snapped our Best Bet unbeaten streak at 10 games.
We’ll try to bounce back today, which is Hockey Day in Canada if you’re not aware. There are games throughout the day and all 7 Canadian teams are in action – one of our favourite days of the year.
We didn’t put up any picks for the afternoon games, but there’s still 8 games to choose from tonight. Only the Bruins/Sabres game has a favourite higher than -150, so it looks like we should be in store for an exciting night of competitive action.
And look for picks from us a bit earlier tomorrow, since it will be Super Bowl Sunday and there are 3 afternoon games on the board. Flyers/Capitals starts at noon so if we have a pick on that game, we’ll try to post it early in the morning. We might throw in a couple of Super Bowl props picks as well.
Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.
We won betting against the Senators Thursday, when Ottawa fell behind 3-0 in the first period and ended up losing 7-2 to the Oilers on home ice.
We’ll go back to the well again tonight as the Senators are still a defensive mess. Thursday was the 5th time in 10 games they’d allowed 5+ goals, which is horrible in this day and age of the NHL. Until they prove to us that they can shore things up in their own end, we’ll look to keep betting against them.
The Leafs seem worth a bet at this price as well, having won both their games since the all-star break. Though both wins came in OT/shootouts, they’ve been no fluke, with Toronto getting 35+ shots against both Boston and New Jersey. In this matchup of Ontario rivals, we can expect another good effort from the Leafs tonight.

The all-star break hasn’t slowed down San Jose, which improved to 9-1-2 in its last 12 games by beating the Blues 3-1 in St. Louis Thursday. The Sharks are now tied with Washington for the most road wins in the league, going into today’s action.
While the Sharks are thriving on the road, the Predators have been mediocre (13-9-2-1) at home, including 3 straight losses there. They’re also averaging less than 2 goals a game over their last 4, and 2 goals probably won’t be enough to beat the Sharks here. Tons of value here on San Jose at even odds.

Dallas was the top team in the West much of the first half of the season befre going into the tank shortly before the all-star break. They seem to be back to their early-season form now, winning 4 of their last 5 – and the 1 game they lost, they outshot Colorado 43-15.
Stars are without Spezza tonight but we think that will make the rest of the team focus even more, with all the players feeling they have to ‘step up’ their games to make up for his absence.
Never easy going against the Blackhawks, but they’ve cooled off a bit since that 12-game winning streak. They’ve also dropped their last 3 meetings with the Stars, including 4-0 shutout losses in each of their last 2 trips to Dallas.
In their last meeting (Dec. 22 in Dallas), the Stars were -121 favourites. That makes -106 tonight look like a good bargain.
