NHL Betting Tips For Monday, November 7

Jon and DerekWe’re in a bit of a slump right now with our Best Bets, but hopefully you’ve been also paying attention to our leans.

We went 3-2 with the leans (the bet we like most on each game) yesterday and are now 10-6-1 with leans since we started to post them Saturday, along with breakdowns of every game.

Since our Best Bet is our favourite lean of the day, we’re confident it’s just a matter of time before we start hitting more of those as well. There will be hot streaks and cold streaks throughout a long season, particularly in the NHL when so many games are decided by 1 goal. The idea is to keep making well-informed bets every day and stay disciplined with bankroll management, and we can all come out ahead at the end of the season.

There’s 3 games tonight. We’ve got a pretty strong opinion about all 3 of them, but not enough to make any of them our Best Bet today. Instead, we’ll just take a look at all 3 games on the board and give leans on each.

We’ve adjusted the game previews a bit for today – we’ll give reasons to bet either team in the game, followed by a few other stats and the probable starting goalies. Then you can decide whether to go with either of the teams we made arguments for, go with our lean or pass on the game altogether!

Good luck tonight.

Odds below are at the time we made the pick. Be sure to check out our live odds page for updated odds on today’s games.

Canucks Logo VS Pick Islanders Logo
Game: Canucks @ Islanders Lean
Time: 7:00PM ET
Lean: Over 5 -125

Reasons to bet Vancouver: The Canucks showed signs of breaking out of their offensive slump Saturday in Toronto, scoring 3 times in a 6-3 loss. Vancouver has won its last 4 visits to the Islanders. New York shouldn’t be a big favourite over anyone right now, having lost 5 of its last 6 games and allowing 3 or more goals in 6 of its last 7.

Reasons to bet New York: The Islanders are playing their final game of a 5-game home stand and should be motivated to get a win before going out on the road. Vancouver has lost 8 straight, is without its top two defencemen and first-line winger Jannik Hansen, and still hasn’t won on the road (0-4-1).

Other things to know:

  • Daniel Sedin is expected to be in the lineup for Vancouver after leaving Saturday’s game with injury
  • New York defenceman Travos Hamonic was injured last game and will be out 4-6 weeks
  • New York is 5-1-1 Over/Under in its last 7 games
  • Vancouver has allowed 4+ goals in 4 of its last 8 games

Probable goalies: Miller (confirmed), Halak (confirmed)

Game: Sabres @ Bruins Lean
Time: 7:00PM ET
Lean: Sabres +0.5 -110 (regulation time)

Reasons to bet Buffalo: The Sabres are 4-1-1-1 on the road and have won 4 of their last 5 games, including a 2-1 win in Ottawa Saturday night. Buffalo has allowed just 5 goals in its last 5 games. Boston is just 1-3 at home this season and has scored more than 2 goals just twice in its last 10 games.

Reasons to bet Boston: Boston has owned this rivalry in recent years, going 7-1-1-1 in the last 10 meetings. The Bruins won 3 in a row before Saturday’s 5-2 loss to the Rangers, when Boston outshot New York 37-24. With Tuukka Rask in goal, the Bruins are 6-1 this season.

Other things to know:

  • Buffalo has gone Under the total in 6 straight games
  • Boston has allowed 8 goals in the last 2 games
  • Boston’s power play has scored just two goals in 9 games
  • Boston is 4-1 in its last 5 games coming off a loss of 3 goals or more

Probable goalies: Lehner (confirmed), Rask

Lightning Logo VS Pick Panthers Logo
Game: Lightning @ Panthers Lean
Time: 7:30PM ET
Lean: Panthers Team Total Over 2.5 -102

Reasons to bet Tampa: The Lightning seems to be back on track after a 3-game losing streak, winning 2 of its last 3 and scoring 13 goals in those 3 games. Tampa’s also tightened up defensively, allowing 6 goals in its last 3. Tampa’s won 16 of the last 23 meetings with Florida, and the Panthers have lost 5 of their last 7.

Reasons to bet Florida: The Panthers are 4-2 at home this season. Florida has scored 12 goals in its last 4 games. Tampa’s allowed 3 goals or more in 5 of its last 7.

Other things to know:

  • Jonathan Drouin is questionable for Tampa
  • Jaromir Jagr is questionable for Florida
  • Tampa beat Florida 4-3 in a shootout last month in Tampa
  • The Over is 3-0-1 in Tampa’s last 4 games
  • The Over is 19-8 in the last 27 meetings between the teams
Probable goalies: Bishop (confirmed), Luongo (confirmed)

Good luck!
