NHL Betting Tips For Wednesday, March 2

Jon and DerekWe went 2-1 last night for a profit, but we were painfully close to a 3-0 night. How close? How about less than a second.

If you followed that Best Bet, you’re already aware that the Sens scored twice in the final 3 minutes of regulation, including a goal with 0.1 seconds left on the clock, to tie the Blues 3-3 and sink our Under 5.5.

Pissing us off even more is that after the last few minutes were a goalfest, 20 straight shooters didn’t score in the shootout until St. Louis finally won 4-3.

To be honest, the under probably wasn’t the right side in that game anyway. The teams combined for 91 shots in the game, probably 80 of which came in regulation. Games with that many shots aren’t typically low-scoring.

Our wins came on the Wild in regulation (they won 6-3) and the Predators (won 5-3).

On to tonight, where there are just 3 games – and 2 of them have huge favourites with Washington facing the Leafs and Anaheim hosting the Habs. We’re not betting on either game, but wouldn’t be surprised if one of those underdogs won.

Were close to passing on this small slate but think there’s some value in Detroit, so it’s 1 pick for today. It’s a Best Bet by default, but be warned that we don’t feel as strong about this play as we do typical Best Bets. We think it’s still got a good chance to win or we wouldn’t bet it, but we don’t absolutely love it.

Good luck tonight with whatever you play.
